Enjoy your eats and then hop on the ferry to go see the Thordarson Boathouse and Museum and the Potawatomi Lighthouse on Rock Island (no cars allowed or needed and dogs can ride on the ferry)

Peninsula State Park - 20 - 25 minute drive away, a must-see even if you only park and hike an easy distance to the stunning vista viewpoints. Many accessible accommodations. State Park Permit required.

Cave Point County Park - it's a 40 minute scenic drive away but so worth it for the breathtaking views! If nothing else, stop there on your way home. 

Newport State Park - 6 miles or a ten minute drive away. Camping, hiking, beaches, and dark-park stargazing.
